PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for obtaining an electrode for an electric double-layer capacitor that improves surface smoothness and tight adhesion and has high-density electrode layers. SOLUTION: An active material such as active carbon, and a conductive material, such as furnace black are mixed to obtain a two-element mixture, the two-element mixture and a dispersant such as carboxymethyl cellulose are mixed to obtain a three-element mixture, and the three-element mixture and a binding material, such as styrene butadiene copolymer are mixed to obtain a slurry four-element mixture. The four-element mixture is applied onto a collector and dried to form electrode layers, thereby obtaining the electrode for the electric double-layer capacitor. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
