PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a butterfly valve capable of maintaining a shutting state of a valve body by sufficient fastening force and improving a longer life of a seat ring. SOLUTION: The butterfly valve provides the rubber seat ring 11 on an open inner face of a cylindrical valve body 10, and also provides a valve body 12 rotatably mounted on stems 14 and 15 which are retained on the cylindrical valve body 10. Regarding the open inner face 21 of the cylindrical valve body 10, projections 22 and 23 for preventing a position gap of the seat ring 11 are formed peripherally at a separated position at a shutting direction side of the valve body 12 rather than the valve body 12 at a fully shutting position on the open inner face 21.
