PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift lever device, achieving space-saving and reducing the occurrence of looseness of a control lever. SOLUTION: In this shift lever device 10, the control lever 36 is supported by a base plate 30 formed like a thin flat plate and disposed adjacent to a shift lever 12 along the shift direction thereof. Accordingly, the structure in the periphery of the control lever 36 along the axial direction of the shaft 28 can be remarkably made thin as compared with the structure in which a cylindrical retainer is fixed to the lower end part of the control lever and the retainer is journaled to the shaft supporting the shift lever as in the conventional shift lever device. Further, the control lever 36 is superposed on the base plate 30 in the direction of board thickness, and an engagement claw 40 or the like is engaged with a hole edge of a guide groove 34 to directly support the lever 36 on the base plate 30, whereby the occurrence of looseness of the control lever 36 can be reduced.
