PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lever unit in which a protruding amount of a lever cover out of a housing is reduced during its operation. SOLUTION: A lever cover 13 keeps its outer surface 14 shaped in a spherical surface centered on a center of oscillation CC and its central part is formed with an engagement hole 15 at its central part to which an upper shaft 36 of a lever main body 31 is freely fitted. The oscillation center CC of the lever cover 13 is offset only by a sizeαin a direction apart from a driver in respect to an oscillation center CL of a shift lever 3. When the shift lever 3 is operated, the lever cover 13 oscillates in respect to an escutcheon cover 11 with the oscillation of the shift cover 3 so as to close an opening 12 of the escutcheon cover 11. Then, an amount of protrusion Z of the shift lever to the rear part of an instrument panel 61 in respect to the oscillation center CL can be significantly set to small as compared with an amount of rearward protrusion Z' statistically even if the oscillation center CC is coincided with the oscillation center CL.
