New benzo (d)-iso-selenium-azole derivatives (I) useful in pharmaceutical formulations for treating disease caused by oxidative damage. Benzo (d)-iso-selenium-azole derivatives of formula (I) their pharmaceutically acceptable salts, precursors and metabolites are new. R1>: H or halogen atoms, alkyl or alkoxy groups; R2>: H atom, alkyl-, carboxy-, alkoxycarbonyl-carboxamido-, or aryl-, or hetero-aryl-groups; Y: a valency sign, (1-4C) straight or branched alkene group; where certain alkene groups may be interposed by arylene groups; n = 0 or 1; Q: H atom OH or oxy(O) group; Z: single or double bond. A number of precursors and metabolites are amines, nitroxides, diamagnetic N-hydroxy-compounds, oxo-immonium groups, conjugated thiols, and compounds. resulting from opening the iso-selenium-azole ring, inclusive of salts. (I) are pharmaceutically active in treating various forms of impaired health symptoms caused by reactive oxidative derivatives. or oxidative damage caused by reactive nitrogen derivatives. |
