In apparatus for effecting an electrical connection between a wire and a terminal post by means of a connector or clip 2, Fig. 15 (not shown), the leading clip is held between surfaces 114, 118 or stops 80, 82 respectively and as the halves of an operating handle are squeezed together a cam surface 106 on a lever 88 abuts a pin 108, thereby depressing the stop 80. A clip pusher 72 moves the strip of clips forwardly and after the pin 108 has moved past the cam surface 106 the spring 86 resets the stop 80 so that the following clip abuts the surface 114. Further pressure on the handle separates the leading clip from the strip, pushes it on to a mandrel portion 136 and the clip severs the insulation of the wire in the opening 124. When the clip overhangs the mandrel head 130 the tool is placed over a post 12 (Fig. 4, not shown) so that it abuts a surface 134 of the head 130. The tool is then pressed downwardly causing the clip pusher 72 to move forwardly relative to the mandrel, thereby forcing the clip along the post with the bared wire trapped therebetween. |
