PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user to freely register a ring tone by making the ring tone easily distinguishable from the ring tone of a cellular phone of the other person. SOLUTION: The telephone set comprises a means for storing a sound from a microphone and a means for reproducing the stored sound as a ring tone, and the sound inputted from the microphone is stored, extracted and used as the ring tone. The inputted sound is compressed and stored, thereby reducing memory capacity. An interface with an audio apparatus is provided to use the sound of the audio apparatus as the ring tone as it is.
