PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring system capable of more efficiently performing a monitoring operation. SOLUTION: The monitoring system comprises a plurality of cameras 10a, 10b, 10c, etc. In this monitoring system, a plurality of persons 8 included in an image photographed by the camera 10b are detected on the basis of the photographed image, and detected information relating to the plurality of persons 8 is acquired. The photographic statuses of the cameras 10a, 10c are then changed on the basis of the detected information.
