PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data transfer device capable of optimizing parameters of a remote bus to which a controller is not directly connected. SOLUTION: On an IEEE1394 network comprising a plurality of data transfer devices, a data transfer device as a controller has a writing means of writing information for setting parameters regarding the constitution of a bus to registers of another data transfer device as a target and the data transfer device as the target has a receiving means of receiving the information for setting the parameters regarding the constitution of the bus from the controller, a storage means of storing the received information for setting the parameters regarding the constitution of the bus, a generating means of generating a packet for setting the parameters regarding the constitution of the bus according to the stored information for setting the parameters regarding the constitution of the bus, and a sending-out means of sending the generated packet out to the bus.
