PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an existing building repairing method which facilitates execution of repairing work for changing the application of an existing building, and particularly repairing work for changing the application from a non-residential building to an apartment house. SOLUTION: According to the method when the existing building is repaired, the thickness of each of existing slabs 1 is increased, and walls for bearing each slab after thickening are additionally erected such that the additional walls 2 on each story are extended down to an undermost story, followed by providing soil improving bodies 5 for bearing the sequences of additional walls on bearing ground 4 under the existing building. Specifically by additionally placing concrete via a cushioning material on each existing slab, the thickness of the slab is increased. Further, slit openings are formed in each existing slab, and each sequence of the additional wall is arranged in a manner penetrating the opening, followed by arranging reinforcing bars at each intersection between the additional wall and the slab.
