TRANSPARENT SCANDIUM OXIDE CERAMIC AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scandium oxide powder which can be easily sintered, and transparent scandium oxide which can be manufactured without using hot-pressing. SOLUTION: The scandium oxide powder contains 0.5-1.0 wt.% of calcium oxide, strontium oxide or alkaline earth metal oxide comprising calcium oxide and strontium oxide. The scandium oxide powder is press-molded at a room temperature and sintered in vacuum to achieve the transparent scandium oxide ceramic without using hot-pressing. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
