PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a backup system of a vehicular steer-by-wire type steering device. SOLUTION: A vehicular steering device 10 generates the turning power from a turning actuator 38 according to the steering quantity of a steering wheel 21, transmits the turning power to a turning mechanism 30 which is mechanically separated from a steering member 21, and turns dirigible road wheels 35 and 35 by a turning mechanism. A steering shaft 22 of the steering wheel and an input shaft 31 of the turning mechanism are coupled with each other by a shaft coupling 52 so that the steering shaft and the input shaft are not coupled with each other in a normal state, but coupled with each other by the coupling signal Cn. The shaft coupling comprises a first coupling half 70 on the steering shaft side, a second coupling half 80 on the input shaft side, a coupling member to change the uncoupled state between the first and second coupling halves to the coupled state therebetween by the movement for coupling in the radial direction with respect to the first and second coupling halves, and a polymer actuator 100 to drive the coupling member.
