PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a duplex writing utensil capable of solving inconveniences occurring within the writing utensil by an impact at the return of a writing body, without making assembly process complicated or increasing production cost due to the increase in the number of part items. SOLUTION: A plurality of writing bodies energized backward with an elastic member are accommodated within a barrel having an open tip. A sliding body is connected to the rear end of the writing bodies respectively. The operation part of the sliding body is projected in the radial direction on the outside from a plurality of window holes provided on the outer peripheral surface at the back of the barrel. The forward sliding of the operation part causes either one of the writing bodies to advance to project its pen tip through the tip opening of the barrel, and at the same time to retreat the other writing body in an advancing position. The composite writing utensil has an impact absorbing part to absorb and relax the impact caused, when the sliding body hits on the receiving part of the barrel at the retreat of the writing body.
