The adjustment device controls movement of door or window flaps, etc. where the flap is pivotally mounted to a frame or a wall or the like. The device has an adjustment element supported on one side on the flap and on the other side on the wall or frame. It also has a manual or motorised drive unit (11) for the adjustment element. The adjustment element has a flexible propelling band (5) of elastic material for transmitting a pushing and pulling force. The drive unit is preferably formed as a spindle motor (2). It has an electromotor (11) arranged in a housing (4), with a spindle (13). The latter is axially fixed on the drive side but id rotatable in the housing (4). A spindle nut (14) is screwed on to the spindle (13) and is guided linearly along the spindle (13) in the housing. The band (5) is coupled to the nut (14) and forms the drive side adjustment element.
