<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely complete data updating even if a power supply for an apparatus is interrupted during the data updating. <P>SOLUTION: A flash memory 20 is provided with a data update object storage area A1 for an application program and the like and a non-update object storage area A2 storing a boot program minimally necessary for initializing a CPU 10 and the like, a data updating program, and a control mode determination program. All of received data are temporarily stored in a storage area A3, and after their validity is confirmed, a data update flag is set. After the received data are transferred to the storage area A1, the flag is cleared.
