<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decompose a malodorous component in the exhaust gas from a combined septic tank by using a photocatalyst at such a low cost that no large-scale equipment such as a deodorization column is used, and to save power consumption by seeking for a supply source of near ultraviolet rays necessary for exciting the photocatalyst both in natural light and a black light. <P>SOLUTION: The subject apparatus for deodorizing the exhaust gas from the combined septic tank is constituted so that the air necessary to bacteria for decomposing the malodorous component in domestic waste water/sewage is supplied to the combined septic tank and then discharged to the outside of the combined septic tank. An outer lid 3 and an air-permeable inner lid 4 are arranged on an opening 1 to form a ventilation chamber 5, and a light source 6 and the photocatalyst are arranged in the ventilation chamber 5. The photocatalyst can be incorporated into a coating layer formed on the outer lid 3 or the inner lid 4.
