PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method for a filter without using an expensive sealing agent or with no need of a sealing work. SOLUTION: The filter F is produced by installing top and down plates 4 and 5 on inner wall faces of an upper and lower apertures 2 and 3 on a filter frame 1 formed in a square frame-like shape; piercing the top plate 4 to form an air hole 6 in the top plate; forming a closed vessel 8 provided with a hollow part 7 with the same width and height of a filter medium after molding; filling the hollow part 7 of the closed vessel 8 with a mixture of filter medium raw materials 10, which are composed of a fiber material and a binder for bonding the fiber material, and a foaming agent in a manner that a gap 9 corresponding to the increase of volume after foaming expansion is left in the upper side; foaming and expanding the filter medium raw materials 10 in the hollow part 7 for making the materials 10 porous; molding the materials 10 into a porous filter medium 11 by hardening the materials 10 in the shape of the hollow part 7, and at the same time, firmly fixing the porous filter medium 11 in the inner circumferential wall faces of the filter frame 1; and then disassembling the top and the down plates 4 and 5 from the filter frame 1.
