<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell manufacturable at a low cost and having a new structure. <P>SOLUTION: This fuel cell is formed of a cell (a) having: a pair of electrodes 2 and 3 catching an electrolyte membrane 1; and a pair of the diffusion layers 6, 6 catching the electrodes from the outsides thereof. Each diffusion layer is formed of a material having both gas permeability and electric conductivity; and an impregnation layer 5 is formed at a part of each diffusion layer without contacting the electrode by impregnating a material having both gas-tightness and electric conductivity.
