PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner making an inconvenient phenomenon difficult to occur. SOLUTION: This air conditioner includes: a compressor 40 compressing a refrigerant; a heat exchanger 50 making the compressed refrigerant discharge heat in the case of cooling operation; an expansion valve 70 expanding at least a part of the compressed refrigerant; an indoor heat exchanger 22 making the refrigerant expanded by the expansion valve 70 absorb heat in the case of the cooling operation; a detection sensor 36 detecting an amount of the refrigerant compressed by the compressor 40 per unit time; and a second arithmetic part 34 controlling the expansion valve 70 such that the amount of the refrigerant expanded during the unit time changes at a rate gentler than a rate of a change of the amount of the refrigerant compressed during the unit time when the amount of the refrigerant compressed during the unit time changes.
