PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber connecting member by which an optical fiber cable can be directly fixed and optical fibers can be connected with simple work, and an optical fiber connecting method. SOLUTION: The optical fiber connecting member 100 has a configuration obtained by coating a capillary 10 into which the optical fiber is inserted with a housing 20. The capillary 10 has an optical fiber hole 11 having a diameter slightly greater than the diameter of the optical fiber and optical fiber coating holes 12 which are respectively disposed on both sides of the optical fiber hole 11 and have the diameter slightly greater than the diameter of the coating section of the optical fiber.
