PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve lift device for an engine for properly varying a valve lift depending on the operated condition of the engine for which a valve train using a rocker arm is applied, by changing the condition of the rocker arm in simple construction. SOLUTION: The variable valve lift device comprises the rocker arm for transmitting cam motion to the stem end of the valve, a turning shaft moving means for moving the turning shaft of the rocker arm onto a movement plane as a plane perpendicular to the turning shaft of the rocker arm, and a constraining means for constraining the rocker arm not to be moved along the longitudinal direction of the rocker arm.
