PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire enabling a tread part to be changed in a shape suitable for various types of road surface conditions. SOLUTION: This pneumatic tire is formed so that an annular high polymer actuator 15 in which when the film of a conductive high polymer material is extended when the potential of the conductive high polymer material is increased more than the potential of the electrolyte by bringing the electrolyte into contact with the film of the conductive high polymer material and when it is lowered less than the potential of the electrolyte, the film is retracted is buried along the tread part 11 of the tire T. When a road surface is wet, the high polymer actuator 15 is radially retracted to retract the lateral center part of the tread part 11 so that anti-hydroplaning performance in straight forward traveling and turning can be increased by increasing the draining performance of the tire. Also, the lateral center part of the tread part 11 is enlarged by radially extending the high polymer actuator 15 according to an increase in the coefficient of friction of the road surface to reduce a ground contact resistance within a range where the tire T is not slipped so as to contribute to the saving of a fuel consumption.
