PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easily manufacturable absorbent article, allowing a user to easily insert legs, and a method of manufacturing the absorbent article permitting stable and easy forming of leg openings and the peripheral regions so that the user can easily insert legs into the openings. SOLUTION: The absorbent article comprises a rectangular liquid-impermeable back sheet 2, an absorbent body 4 disposed at the center of the back sheet 2, and a liquid-permeable top sheet 3 disposed on top of the absorbent body 4. The absorbent article also has a fold-back part 5 formed by double-folding the center of the back sheet 2 in the longitudinal direction toward the top sheet 3 side along the cross direction, joint parts 8 and 8 with ends of the back sheet 2 in the longitudinal direction jointed to each other, a waist opening 6 formed on both ends in the longitudinal direction of the back sheet 2 to be located around the waist of the user wearing the absorbent article, and two leg openings 7 formed on both sides of the absorbent body 4 in the fold-back part 5 to be located around the legs of the user wearing the absorbent article.
