At least one of the pins (7) on the cylinder core (3) is made thinner relative to the other pins on the side facing the keyway (4) so that when the key is inserted into the keyway the relatively thin pin will be moved later than the other pins. The casing (2) has pins (8) which are urged by springs (9) against the pins on the core when the key is removed from the lock, causing the pins on the core to be urged into the keyway.
