The hydraulic support element (1) for the valve gear of an internal combustion engine includes a housing (4) torsionally fixed in relation to its cylinder head holder (6). Either an outer casing (22) of the housing and the cylinder head holder each have opposite lying slots (23,24) in which a complementary component (25) extends from an edge (11) of the housing, or a longitudinal member formed on the outer casing of the housing or on the cylinder head holder extends from this edge. A radial passage (16) is positioned at the highest point of the housing's circumferential section, viewed in the gravity force direction.
