PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a field sequential liquid crystal display device which has a simple structure, shows high color purity and color display with high luminance and high resolution. SOLUTION: In the field sequential liquid crystal display device provided with a first substrate 11 equipped with a pixel electrode 19 and a TFT 21 and a second substrate 31 equipped with a counter electrode 33, an area of a channel 50 formed on a semiconductor layer 15 of the TFT 21 is 90μm2or more, or lengths of mutually opposing parts of a source electrode 17 and a drain electrode 18 on the channel 50 are six times a gap length between the both electrodes or more.
