PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a level detector for a vehicle, which has superior visibility by enabling an indication value of a level meter to be stably maintained when the liquid level in a tank is inclined. SOLUTION: A baffle plate 6 is fixed to the inner side of a guide pipe 5 so that its lower plane 62 is set approximately parallel to the liquid level 81 and near the highest liquid level 81, more concretely, the lower plane 62 is made coincident with the liquid level 82 in such a state that the quantity of fuel storage in a fuel tank 2 is 90% of the maximum storage quantity. As a result, when fuel in the fuel tank 2 is rocked by vibration of a moving vehicle, ultrasonic waves are reflected by the baffle plate 6 and received by an ultrasonic element 3, and reflection waves from the liquid level 81 are propagated outside of the guide pipe 5 and are not received by the ultrasonic element 3, thereby surely inhibiting such a trouble that indicating the quantity of residual fuel by an indicating section 10 is made unstable.
