PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile machine capable of normally carrying out reception operations, without making the reception operations stagnant, even when no staple is present. SOLUTION: The facsimile machine includes a stapler 11b having a staple presence / no presence detection means 11c; a printout section 10; an image storage section 4 for storing image data; and a control section 1 for executing prescribed staple mode processing when the facsimile machine receives the image data. When the detection means 11c detects no presence of staple and detects that the residual capacity is less than a prescribed value in an operation in a staple mode, the control section 1 is configured to shift the operating mode to a staple automatic OFF mode so as to enable execution in a normal printing mode.
