摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact and highly accurate tandem type laser scanner. SOLUTION: The scanner has two polygon mirrors 3a and 3b which are vertically arranged and light source optical systems 2a and 2b including the bending of an optical path into a subscanning direction. A laser diode 1a is arranged on the lower side so that the incident optical path to the upper polygon mirror 3a is bent upward with the light source optical system 2a. A laser diode 1b is arranged on the upper side so that the incident optical path to the lower polygon mirror 3b is bent downward with the light source optical system 2b. The scanner is advantageous in terms of picture quality because laser beams La and Lb are made incident on the polygon mirrors 3a and 3b without giving an angle with respect to the polygon mirrors 3a and 3b in the subscanning direction. The light sources 1a and 1b are arranged at a height between two polygon mirrors 3a and 3b, thus members around the laser diodes 1a and 1b do not increase the thickness of the scanner.
