PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve system capable of preventing generation of an abnormal sound in an actuator caused by alternating torque transmitted from a control shaft. SOLUTION: A speed reduction mechanism of the actuator 5 for rotatably controlling the control shaft 19 of a variable mechanism 3, is composed of an outer peripheral circular eccentric cam 26 eccentrically rotating to the axis Z of a driving shaft, by inputting torque from the driving shaft 22a of an electric motor 22, a planetary pinion gear 27 having a circular sliding hole for relatively rotatably storing the eccentric cam on the inner periphery, and eccentrically rotating in response to rotation of the eccentric cam, a ring gear 28 for revolving while making the planetary pinion gear autorotate by meshing external teeth 27a of the planetary pinion gear with a substantially circular inner peripheral surface, and an eccentricity absorbing means 30 for transmitting the torque to the control shaft, by converting eccentric rotation of the planetary pinion gear into concentric rotation.
