PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a partial cut printer and a partial cut control method which can cut to an appropriate depth in accordance with the length of a printed continuous sheet. SOLUTION: In this printer, a conveyance length detection part 56 which detects the conveyance length of the continuous sheet, based on control data from a conveyance control part 56 and a cut amount calculation table 58 which stores the cut amount complying with the conveyance length, material of the continuous sheet and its weight per unit length, are provided. The cut amount of the continuous sheet in the width direction is decided by a cut amount calculation part 57, based on the conveyance length calculated by a conveyance length detection part 56 and the data of the cut amount calculation table 58. A cutter drive control part 59 controls a cutter mechanism 20, based on the decided cut amount.
