PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner with a cord reel around which a power cord is wound, that is easy to use. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner is provided with a spring capable of urging a cord reel 13 around which a power cord 12 is wound in the direction D of taking up the power cord 12. The vacuum cleaner is equipped with a clutch mechanism 16 capable of changing the urging of the spring toward the cord reel 13 to transmission and cutting off. When the power cord 12 is to be drawn out, the urging of the spring to the cord reel 13 is cut off by the clutch mechanism 16 to easily draw out the power cord 12. When the power cord 12 is taken up, the urging of the spring to the cord reel 13 is transmitted by the clutch mechanism 16 to easily take up the power cord 12 and ease of use can be improved.
