PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic operation system man conveyor capable of accurately detecting only a person/persons utilizing the man conveyor by a sensor to perform automatic operation. SOLUTION: A primary passenger detection sensor (A) 21 is provided by directing a sensor output face toward the direction of advance of passenger in an outer deck 14 in the vicinity of an entrance of a pair of hand railings 13, and a primary passenger detection sensor (B) 22 is provided by directing a sensor output face toward an inner side for the direction of advance of passenger by a predetermined angle in an inner deck 15 in the vicinity of the entrance of the pair of hand railings 13 to constitute a detection scope 26 in which width direction is substantially equal to interval width W of the pair of hand railings 13 and the longitudinal direction is within predetermined distance L from the entrance. By detecting the presence or absence of passenger within this detection scope 26, only the person (s) utilizing the man conveyor is accurately detected by the sensors to perform automatic operation.
