<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for converting a widely available printing medium which is suitable for an impact printing technology to a composition having characteristics required for application using an inkjet printing apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: This composition is prepared by blending a hydrophilic viscous printing composition which is suitable to apply on a substrate using the impact printing technology and a thinner. The thinner comprises i. water, ii, at least one glycol, iii. one or more surface tension-improving agents, iv. optionally ammonium hydroxide, and v. optionally one or more hydrophilic solvents.
