<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting power delay of a servo motor controller in which the occurrence of a useless waiting time can be suppressed during a time after power supply of a main circuit is turned on before a power ready signal is outputted regardless of the capacity of a main circuit smoothing capacitor. <P>SOLUTION: The method for initializing power supply of a servo motor controller 1 provided with a main circuit smoothing capacitor 3 comprises a step for turning on the control power supply and the main circuit power supply of a servo motor controller 1 (step ST1), a step for monitoring the charging voltage of the main circuit smoothing capacitor 3 (step ST2), a step for detecting a fact that the charging voltage of the main circuit smoothing capacitor 3 has exceeded a preset threshold value Vh for a predetermined time (Ts) continuously (step ST3), and a step for outputting a power ready signal (step ST4).
