PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a conventional image forming apparatus that the gap between an image forming medium being carried and an ink head is narrow when an image is formed on the image forming medium by means of an ink head and when the forward end part of the image forming medium is curled or creased, the image forming medium abuts against the ink head and jams to cause a damage on the ink ejecting surface. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, oil pans 5 are arranged in the spaces among a plurality of divided head arrays 1A-1D arranged, at a constant interval, along the direction intersecting the carrying direction perpendicularly, and a guide protrusion 11 of a specified shape is provided on the bottom face (lower surface) of the oil pan 5 and arranged closer to a medium 31 than the ink ejecting surface of each head unit 2 in order to prevent the medium 31 from uplifting thus protecting the ink ejecting surface against damage due to the choked medium 31 upon occurrence of a jam error.
