PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for measuring the plate thickness of an element of a belt for a continuously variable transmission, capable of effectively and correctly measuring the plate thickness of the element of the belt. SOLUTION: This measuring device is constituted so that the element 2 is previously set with measuring points a-e, the upward and downward of which are opened, and holding members 10, 11 are provided so as to hold the center line x of the element 2 horizontally. The measuring device includes a 1st displacement sensor equipped with measuring heads 17a-17e opposite to the measuring points a-e, and a 2nd displacement sensor equipped with measuring heads 18a-18e opposite to the rear face of the measuring points a-e of the element 2. When the the measuring heads of each sensor are abutted on the measuring points a-e of the element 2, the plate thicknesses of the element 2 at the measuring points a-e are measured by the plate thickness measuring means provided with this measuring device.
