PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a phosphorus-containing flame-retardant aggregate, and a method for using the flame retardant in a polymer. SOLUTION: This phosphorus-containing flame retardant aggregate comprises (a) 99.99-80 wt.% of an aggregate and/or primary particles of a specific phosphinate and/or specific diphosphinate and/or a polymer thereof, and (b) 0.01-20 wt.% of an adjuvant that is a polymer or copolymer on the basis of vinylpyrrolidone, vinyl acetate, vinylcaprolactam, or a mixture thereof, and/or a polymer or copolymer on the basis of an epoxide, urethane, acrylate, ester, amide, stearate, olefin, cellulose derivative or mixture thereof.
