PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holder for holding a waste housing container for easily attaching and detaching the lid of the housing container of medical waste, smoothly opening and closing it, mitigating unpleasant impact sound when the lid is opened and closed and having improved buffer property. SOLUTION: The holder is provided with: a pedestal 1 for mounting the container thereon; a column part 2 erected on the back surface side of the pedestal 1; a lid body supporting part 5 freely turnably attached to the upper proximal end part of the column part 2 and provided with a holding part 8 for freely attachably and detachably holding the lid body handle part of the container on a distal end part or an intermediate part; an opening / closing pedal rod 7 provided with a stepping pedal 9 on the distal end and freely turnably supported by the pedestal 1 at the intermediate part; and an opening / closing rod 6 freely turnably connected to the rear end part of the opening / closing pedal rod 9 and to the proximal end part of the lid body supporting part 5. One end of a buffer device 11 is connected to the connection part of the opening / closing rod 6 and the opening / closing pedal rod 7 and the other end of the buffer device 11 is fixed to the column part 2.
