PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can be prevented from being let as it is in a state wherein a maintenance operation for protecting a nozzle of an inkjet head is not performed even in the shutoff of power supply by using a simple low-cost constitution, and which dispenses with wasteful power consumption for the maintenance operation in the state of the shutoff of the power supply. SOLUTION: In this image forming apparatus, the inkjet head can be turned from an angle of a predetermined retraction position to an angle of an operation position wherein the inkjet head can form an image on a medium to be recorded, on a scanning surface, by electrical control, while power is supplied to the apparatus itself and while an image forming operation is performed.
