The invention relates to the production of (cigarette) packets by means of packers (13) wherein print carriers i.e. optionally, multi-folded coupons, are added to the packets according to the design of the packet. Said coupons are produced in a coupon device (15) by a coupon manufacturer (16) and are placed into containers, i.e. cartridges, in a filling station (18). They are then stored in amounts corresponding to requirements on vehicles, i.e. transport carriages (42,43) in order to be fed to the packer (13). The relevant machines and units are connected to a central control unit (91) which determines the amount of coupons to be produced and results in coding of the cartridge (20) and/or transport carriages such that the supply of coupons to the packers (13) is controlled according to the packet charge to be produced.
