<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium improved in recording characteristics to respective recording layers of an optical recording medium of a dual layer type, which provides the sufficient signal amplitude from both the recording layers at the time of reproducing, and achieves interchangeability with general optical recording media at the time of reading out. <P>SOLUTION: The optical recording medium has the structure having at least a first substrate, the optically recordable first recording layer, a translucent reflective layer, an intermediate layer, the optically recordable second recording layer, and a second substrate, successively from the side to be irradiated with a laser beam for recording, reproducing or recording and reproducing.
