PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reliability of of the information recording and reproducing performance of a disk device by preventing the mischucking of a disk medium to avoid the damaging of the disk medium, and by protecting an actuator component or the like in the disk device. SOLUTION: This disk device is provided with: a spindle motor as a means for mounting and rotating a disk medium in a predetermined position; its driving means; a rotational direction detecting means for detecting the rotational direction of the spindle motor; a rotational direction switching means for switching the rotational direction of the spindle motor; a rotational speed detecting means for detecting the rotational state of the spindle motor; and a control means for controlling each means.
