PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk transport device which detects a disk-shaped recording medium having a 12cm diameter, transports the medium to a chucking position, and does not transport a disk-shaped recording medium to the chucking position when the medium is determined to be a medium having a different diameter. SOLUTION: When a disk detecting device determines reactions from two or more detection sensors indicating that a recording medium is mounted at a first position, the disk detecting device conducts centering for the disk and transports the disk to a second position. Then, chucking operation is conducted when reactions are received from three detection sensors. When the chucking operation is completed, a reproducing operation or the like is performed by a drive section. When no reaction is received from the three detection sensors, it is judged that the disk is a differently shaped disk and the recording medium is lowered to the first position by the disk transport device.
