PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat-panel display having excellent weather resistance and heat resistance, capable of realizing high definition display and applicable to a curved surface. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display element 1 is provided with: a pair of glass substrates 11 and 12; a plurality of transparent electrodes 13 and 16; alignment layers 14 and 17; spacers 18 holding a prescribed gap between the glass substrates 11 and 12; and a sealing layer 20 for tightly joining the glass substrates 11 and 12 at the circumferential parts of the glass substrates 11 and 12 to encapsulate a liquid crystal 21 in the inside thereof. Each of the glass substrates 11 and 12 is made of soda lime glass. If the substrate has, e.g., 35 mm×45 mm outer dimension and 0.2 mm thickness t (mm), the substrate is bent into a curved surface having 280 mm radius of curvature which satisfies a relational formula R≥1,000t+80 (0.05≤t≤0.2) for the radius R (mm) of curvature.
