PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner which can perform the rotation speed control of a driving means for driving a rotary cleaner without steps, and also, can smoothly perform the rotation speed control at the time of a switching between a voltage reducing operation mode wherein the voltage of a DC power source which is applied to the driving means is reduced, and a voltage non-reducing operation mode wherein the voltage of the DC power source which is applied to the driving means is not reduced as well. SOLUTION: The voltage of the DC power source 10 is reduced by repeating the accumulation and the discharge of an energy from the DC power source 10 to a magnetic part 42 by controlling a switching element 41 by a switching controlling means 35. Thus, the rotation speed control of the driving means 20 which rotatably and drives the rotary cleaner can be performed without steps. Also, the rotation speed control at the time of the switching between the voltage reducing operation mode wherein the voltage of the DC power source 10 which is applied to the driving means 20 is reduced, and the voltage non-reducing operation mode wherein the voltage of the DC power source 10 which is applied to the driving means 20 is not reduced can smoothly be performed as well.
