A plurality of dual shear beam load cells (1006) including a plurality of strain gages (1051) is mounted between a chassis (1004) and a container (1003) of a garbage collection truck in a floating mount configuration via slip surfaces (1016). The data is adaptively filtered and combined with the measurements of a tilt sensor (1007) and temperature readings to permit measurement of incremental loads accurate enough to allow customer billing.
