PHOTODETECTOR AND PHOTO-DETECTION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photodetector eliminating the affection of incident outside light of various patterns at the actual operation. SOLUTION: The detection sensor 18 detects existence of reflection light by irradiating the detection object 160 such as a cover or a disk memory medium. The outside light elimination part 220 eliminates the affection by the outside light 150 based on the detection output of the detection sensor 18. The control part 240 controls on-off timing of the light emission of the detection sensor 18, makes the outside light elimination part 220 eliminate the outside light based on the detection output of received light when the light emission is off.
