1,068,767. Bearings. S. MESSERSCHMIDT. Feb. 9, 1966 [March 13, 1965], No. 5733/66. Heading F2A. In a convex-roller bearing the rollers have a radius of curvature in a plane containing the bearing axis which is at least twice the bearing radius, i.e. the distance between the bearing axis and the mid-point of a roller axis. Each roller has equal areas of contact (18, 19, Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) with the outer and inner races. In Fig. 1 (not shown) the outer race has a cylindrical raceway, and the inner race has a curved raceway whose curvature in said plane is equal to that of the roller. Circumferential projections (16) on the inner race guide the rollers. Alternatively a curved inner raceway (17) extends beyond the ends of the rollers. Conical, needle and thrust bearings are shown in Figs. 5-9 (not shown). |
