PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a device for detecting a position, that enables multiple-bit digital detection of an angle state, by providing a cam on a barrel with a low-priced generalized switch, enables integrated formation processing of a zoom gear and a position detecting section by a simple metallic mold structure, and realizes cost reduction by decreasing man-hours of assembly and detecting errors. SOLUTION: A plurality of cam shapes, consisting of two different radii and connections thereof in a plurality of sectional shapes in a direction orthogonal to a rotating axis, are provided on the outer periphery of a rotating member, and position detection is performed by providing a switch that contacts from the radius direction thereof to perform 1 bit-switching operation on each cam surface, to digitally output a plurality of angle phase states of the rotating member.
